After the close of play last Friday I attended a meeting of the Members’ Forum in the Charles Palmer Suite, where Leicestershire Chairman Neil Davidson answered questions about the recent resignation of Chief Executive David Smith.
In the interests of confidentiality it’s probably best that I don’t say too much about this, beyond saying that it is a very unfortunate situation. I’ve always had a good impression of both Davidson and Smith.
But perhaps it’s permissible to reveal that Smith is alleged to have described the Members’ Forum as “anarchic” and a group of “forty or fifty old men”.
Looking around me, this struck me as a gross calumny. There must have been at least eighty of us, and quite a few of us were women.
